Historically, farmer´s or green markets were the best or even the only way to buy the grocery. Unfortunately farmer´s markets are becoming less and less and it is hard to find a good one nowadays. Luckily, some of them survived. While Naschmarkt is the biggest green market in Vienna, I prefer to visiting a smaller one in the city´s 18th district. It is located directly at the Kutschkermarkt. Not only it offers bio food from local farmers on Saturday but it has great places to take a short break in-between.
The Cafe Himmelblau is a hot spot for weekend´s breakfast, brunch or late lunch. It serves fresh food only. But the best part of it: the yummiest desserts you can get in town. All self baked. In summer you can sit outside.
Poehl´s cheese stand is famous for its delicious cheese offer. If you are a cheese lover, this is your place!
I love green markets, as they have a special flair. And nothing feels better than a good brunch on a Saturday, after visiting the green market. Simple things in life, yet so precious!
